Still Pulling,

Shayla

It's official, Pulling Strings is saying Goodbye to the Sunshine State. Along with packing up my house, I'm packing my strings and taking them to Tennessee.  I definitely have mixed feelings about moving because I have met lifetime friends and made great networks here in Florida. I even found some awesome yarn stores.  Yet, I look forward to meeting new people in Tennessee and of course introducing Pulling Strings in a new territory.  For the past two years, my family and I have pretty much experienced summer all year round.  Since my husband announced our move to Tennessee, I began to imagine the fact that I would actually experience seasons.  When we move later this month, it would be Fall and a lot cooler than it is in our current state of Florida.  In order to prepare for Tennessee's Fall weather, I designed a Pulling Strings' Infinity Scarf. I decided on a neutral fiber with a pop of color.  I did a visual test run here in Florida and snapped a few photos. I cant wait to actually wear it around my new town.  Although we are saying goodbye to Florida, this move has allowed Pulling Strings to grow in a way which would not have been possible if we stay behind.  Please be assured that no matter where we move, I will continue to keep Pulling Strings for you.

I was asked to create a custom pair of earrings for a special client a few weeks ago.  She described in detailed how she wanted these pair of earrings to look.  She even sent a picture to help me understand what she really wanted.  To be honest, I was scared because I never received a request quite like hers.  My usually requests are changing a color or two to already existing style.  I think my client was more confident in my skills to PULL this off and make her idea a crochet reality.  So needless to say I had to get to work. Check out the pictures she sent and look at the finished crochet earrings.  I was beyond satisfied with my ability to create an awesome pair of earrings for my client.   And she was happy with her "three tiered mustard gradient bell-shaped tulips" crochet earrings.  As I look back on my process, I'm not really sure why I ever doubted my skills.  If you have a idea, let me PULL some STRINGS and make it happen for your earring needs.  I'm up for the next crochet earring challenge. Email Shayla at pulllingstrings4u@yahoo.com with your ideas.

This week Pulling Strings is featuring an up and coming jewelry designer based out of Arizona.  When I saw one of these custom bracelet I knew right away that my lil Charm had to have one.  Also, I had to share these awesome bracelets with everyone who has a little girl.  So, I present designers and good friends of mine: Brian, Kenya & Brianna Horton who are also known as  the Bri Bella Company.  Check out their bio and the face of BriBella wearing a bracelet or two below:

  1. How did you come up with the name Bri Bella as your company name? Brian and I were blessed to have our first child, Briana Bella Horton born May 7, 2012. We were so excited that we went crazy over planning her foundation and new life – education, business, extracurricular activities, all the dainty things little girls do, we named it. It sounds insane but it’s the reaction of being first time parents, I believe anyway. Instantly, we started calling our baby girl, Briana, Bri, Bella, and one day my sister-n-law called out the name Bri Bella.  I thought to myself, how perfect and fitting for a little princess and her own business. We wrote it down and said we would save the name for the perfect idea.
  2. What is the inspiration behind your company, Bri Bella? It seems that everything we touch and put our minds to is for the benefit and well-being of others and we prefer it no other way. We believe that Bri Bella Company is a special calling and teacher to our daughter, and young entrepreneurs who we hope will carry the legacy. Our goal was to find pretty jewelry designs and accessories for our little sweet (after receiving a beautiful handmade gift) but we did not find the ideal pieces that we desired. So, the only thing left to do was to create our own and Bri Bella was born. As a mother and fashionista, I wanted my daughter to have fashionable keepsakes and special occasion jewelry, not the average or monotone type jewelry. Our designs are unique and you will never see items displayed in other shops. Our inspiration also includes making a difference in neighboring countries by donating 10% of our quarterly sales to Orphanages in Kenya, India, and Thailand. We believe the way to success is sharing it with others and spreading our talents and abilities around the world.
  3. Who are your target clients? Our target clients are women and men who have their own children or access to children between the ages of newborn and 10 years. They desire stylish and creative jewelry for their little sweets or someone special and value high quality products. Our clients choose Bri Bella because they love our style, artistic details, and we make kids look gorgeous. Our products appeal to the trendy client, positive and upbeat, loves color and all things vibrant, and they desire to make their children or little one around them look very well taken care of.
  4. What makes your jewelry different from other jewelry on the market today? Bri Bella jewelry is unique and you will never find our designs anywhere on the market. Every piece is handmade with high quality beads, jewels, woods, coppers, bronzes, and sterling silver. You will notice many baby boutiques that sale jewelry stick with very simple designs, such as pearls, and Swarovski crystals, and we take it a step further. I love finding trade beads from Africa and international vendors, or variety glass beads and trinkets from vendors in our local area. Simply put, I love style and making my little girl look and feel good and our ideal client feels the same.
  5. What is your background in designing jewelry? If I tell you, you must promise not to tell anyone. I’m kidding! We do not have a background in making jewelry. When my husband mentioned the idea of making our own jewelry for Bella, I jumped on it. We are both highly entrepreneurial spirited and I love doing anything creative and with purpose. I watched a few YouTube videos, which didn’t help too much and then I contacted a close friend who specialized in jewelry making. She showed me the basics and I ran with it from there. I was two months post Prego and opened shop in the third month after Brian and I established our business set-up.
  6. What are your goals for Bri Bella in the future? Our goals for Bri Bella in the future are to train our daughter to take over the business; support 10,000 kids in Kenya, Thailand, and China Orphanages by the year 2016, and manufacture our own Bri Bella apparel and jewelry through a supply vendor and sell products in store and online around the world. Big dreams for a little princess, right?! We believe in starting a child early in their journey to success and we hope to inspire entrepreneurship in many children other than our own.
  7. How can I purchase a piece of jewelry from Bri Bella? Am I able to customize my piece? You can purchase a piece of jewelry from Bri Bella by visiting our online Etsy store at www.bribella.com We do offer custom orders and you may contact us directly over the website to place your special request.
  8. Do you have any other passions other than designing jewelry? Brian and I have a host of passions – growing our relationship with God, inspiring others through inspirational writing, music, professional photography, day trading, education and leadership, and local and international travel. We stay on the go, but you can always find me with a bead board and making something precious for Bella or someone’s little sweet.

Today I took my 2 1/2 month old daughter on her first of many trips to the yarn store.  While I shopped for yarn, she used her Big Bright eyes to absorb all the colors of fibers in the yarn store.  As I pointed to the different types of fibers and called out the colors, she quietly took it all in and I purely enjoyed giving her this experience.  In due time, I know she will be helping me pick out yarn and colors to help her me with Pulling Strings' Accessories.  It's always a pleasure to stop at A Good Yarn because you always walk away with 1) unique fibers, 2) run into other crocheters/knitters and 3) great staff.  I had to take a few pictures to capture this experience today. Enjoy!!!

Pulling Strings' pushed out it's newest member in June, my Lucky Charm. In addition to seeing me wear a pair of Pulling Strings' earrings you will also see me wear my most "precious accessory", my daughter.  At this point in my life, I remain motivated to allow my business to grow and provide style to all types of women.  I am enjoying my new role as a mommy, a loving army wife to my best friend & a successful business woman. I will be looking forward to receiving your future orders and meeting you at local events.

Pushing, Pulling & Progressing in 2012

Shayla Peterson

This past weekend Pulling Strings set up shop for another Sip and Shop Experience with various vendors within Sarasota County.  We gathered at Studio V Gallery in Venice, FL to offer unique products to the locals.  The Sip and Shop experience included shopping, wine tasting and art work. I just wanted to use this time to say thank you to all who came out to support our event.  If you missed this event, don't worry...we are sure to host another event in the near future.  Remember at each event, there's an opportunity to win a FREE Pair of earrings just for showing up.   If you can't wait until the next one, order your custom Pulling Strings' accessories online at www.pullingstrings.net or email us at pullingstrings4u@yahoo.com to host your own event.

Have A Fabulous Day
